College Closure Procedures

In the event that the College has to close due to unforeseen circumstances, i.e. adverse weather, the following will apply:

Closure before the start of the school day:

  • A decision on whether to close the College will be taken by the Co-Principals;
  • Information regarding any closure will be posted on the College website www.collingwoodcollege.com as soon as possible following the decision to close with updates when further details are available;
  • Information will also be available on the Surrey County Council website www.surreyalert.info and the local radio stations:
    1. BBC Surrey -  104.04 & 104.6 FM
    2. The Eagle Radio Station – 96.4 FM
  • A text will be sent to all parents via Parent Call advising them of the closure;
  • An announcement will be put on the College website, Facebook, Twitter and the Parent Portal;
  • In the event that students arrive at the College, they will be directed to the following areas to register:
Years 7, 8 and 9 Barossa Dining Room
Years 10 and 11 Kingston Theatre
6th Form 6th Form Common Room
  • Parents will be contacted to ascertain how their child will get home.  No student will be allowed to leave the College without parental permission.  They will also be required to sign out at reception.

Closure following the start of the school day:

  • A decision on whether to close the College will be taken by the Co-Principals;
  • Information regarding any closure will be posted on the College website www.collingwoodcollege.com as soon as possible following the decision to close with updates when further details are available;
  • Information will also be available on the Surrey County Council website www.surreyalert.info and the local radio stations:

                   1.   BBC Surrey -  104.04 & 104.6 FM
                   2.  The Eagle Radio Station – 96.4 FM

  • A text will be sent to all parents via Parent Call advising them of the closure and advising them what coaches/buses will be available to transport students home who come to College by this method;
  • An announcement will be put on the College website, Facebook, Twitter and the Parent Portal;
  • Students will remain in their classrooms until such time that arrangements for those travelling home by coach/bus are confirmed;
  • Students who walk to College will be permitted to leave once permission has been obtained from parents.  All students must sign out at the nearest reception.
