Summer Facilities Improvements
As ever at this time of year we are preparing to take advantage of the summer break to complete some significant improvements to facilities across the College. We expect to complete works on the major upgrades to fire doors and compartmentation in Kingston building just as work starts on a £1.3m programme of electrical upgrades, interior refurbishment and fire alarm replacement. In addition to these major projects and the usual schedule of maintenance and redecoration, a new outdoor social area will be created for the Sixth Form, and classroom furniture will be upgraded throughout our Barossa building. Of particular interest to many students who had requested more outdoor sports and leisure equipment, via the College Council, will be the addition of outdoor table tennis tables for use by all year groups during break and lunchtimes.
These improvements represent the latest round of significant investment in College facilities and another step forward in the quality of facilities available to support teaching and extra-curricular activities, and we look forward to students enjoying them in September.
Forthcoming Lockdown Drill
As part of our routine safety procedures, we will be organising a College lockdown drill before the end of the current term. This is a procedure we carry out on an annual basis so that staff and students can experience safely sheltering in a place at College and are prepared to do so in the unlikely event of an incident in or near the College (e.g. a chemical leak). For obvious reasons we will not be publicising the date and time of the drill, but I wanted to make parents and carers aware in advance in order to avoid any undue concern at the time.
